Academic help-seeking is positive and beneficial to students academic achievements. Online learning can increase students intention to utilize academic help-seeking. How to promote students academic help-seeking behaviors through the Internet is an important issue concerned by educators. This study aimed to explore the influences of intrinsic value, test anxiety and their interaction on online academic help-seeking. This study was a cross-sectional survey research. Through purposeful sampling 154 students of elderly caring department in two medical university were surveyed. The intrinsic value scale and test anxiety scale were employed to assess participants motivational factors; while the information searching scale, formal query scale and informal query scale were utilized to evaluate their online academic help-seeking behaviors. Regarding the data analysis, the hierarchical regression analysis was conducted to explore the influences of demographics, intrinsic value, test anxiety, and the interaction effect between intrinsic value and test anxiety on online academic help-seeking behaviors. The results showed that intrinsic value, gender, age and experience of online academic information search had significant influences on online academic help-seeking. However, test anxiety did not impact online academic help-seeking. Otherwise, the interaction between intrinsic value and test anxiety had influence on online academic help-seeking. There is a need to use different approaches to encourage students who possess different background, intrinsic value, and test anxiety to utilize appropriate online academic help-seeking. |
