This study explored the experience of elementary school teachers participating in a counseling course as a part of their professional development. The qualitative research method was used for this research, with data collected through a focus group interview with the participants at the end of the course. The results of the study demonstrated that the participants had achieved the following as a result of the counseling course: 1. enhanced self-awareness; 2. increased flexibility in their personal lives, including in relationships; 3. an improved understanding of counseling based on theory and practice; 4. a better understanding of how to cooperate and work with the school system; and 5. clarification of the role and position of the counselor and teacher. Based on the research results, this paper discusses and provides explanations of the limitations of the research and recommendations as a reference for others.
