More than 40% of patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) experience nail disorders , which induce pain that affects finger functioning and even work ability. Such disorders also cause patient to feel awkward when showing their hands to others. To improve patients’ quality of life, this review introduces the structure of nails, the relationship between CKD and nail disorders, risk factors, common nail disorders of CKD patients, and the respective treatment, in addition to the role and function of nurses in nail disorders care. This paper can serve as a reference for nurses to care for CKD patients experiencing nail disorders, devise nursing plans, refer patients to physicians for treatment in advance.
