The forms of name records on Han Dynasty steles, including their format and order, are important tools to analyze the power relations and social networks they reflect. However, in the case of the "Stele of Ritual Vessels" ("Liqi bei" 禮器碑), it seems difficult to explain the complicated condition of the name records on it with the common forms of its era. The complexity of the name records of the Stele of Ritual Vessels stems from the fact that they were collected and inscribed in batches in the process of their formation. The name records on the front, back, right, and left sides of the stele as well as the supplementary ones belong to different batches and show a special order. Furthermore, the process of collection resulted in the coexistence of various name formats on this stele. Investigating the formation of the name records on the Stele of Ritual Vessels enhances our understanding of the historical context behind the steles of the Han Dynasty, especially those erected through fundraising.
