Digital footprint refers to collect the people’s locational information and behaviors of daily life digitally. The digital footprint analysis can help researchers understand the subject’s characteristics and interaction between residents and space. Most of the undergraduates spend a long time on the campus for learning activities. If their digital footprints can be recorded, collected, integrated, and analyzed, it could explore students’ behavior characteristics. This study employed 168 college students’ smartphones as digital footprint recording devices, which were used to depict the trails of student’s movement on campus. A visualization tool for exploring the subject’s digital footprint patterns was constructed by R Server and Shiny package, and an unsupervised algorithm was used to figure out their clusters. The relationship between students’ digital footprint and their personality traits were discussed in this study. The innovative methods and results support future studies for enhancing digital footprint student counseling or campus design. |
