The year 2010 was a milestone of Taiwan’s local development. Not only because it was the 60th year of local self-government practice, but because it was the end of the era of “5 Special Municipalities” which lasted for a 30-years of period, and the starting point of 5 Special Municipalities. The propose of this reformation, was to promote urban competitiveness and the practice of regional governance. As a result, the study of foreign regional development practice has become very important. The purpose of this article is to introduce the Germany’s regional cooperation development. We will first introduce the basic characters of German federalism, and discuss the contents of the newly established “Concepts for spatial development” . Secondly, we probe into all sorts of interlocal relation patterns. Thirdly, introduce all modes of inter-municipal cooperation. Finally, we will conclude this review with several implications and suggestions for Taiwan’s regional development. |
