Virtual reality (VR) technology provides a unique sense of immersion and is gaining traction as an educational training and simulation practice model adopted by more institutions. Users simulate on-site chemical operations in a virtual space, where they can identify hazards visually and through somatosensory feedback, thereby improving their hazard recognition skills. Migrant workers help fill labor gaps and make great contributions to Taiwan’s economic development, but their work rights and security are insufficient. In addition, the '' Disability cases due to Occupational Disaster per thousand people'' of the foreign migrant workers in the manufacturing industry is almost 2-3 times that of domestic workers, indicating that providing convenient and accessible safety and health education and learning resources for the migrant workers is also an important task. To ensure the safety of migrant workers exposed to chemicals, multilingual education and training materials (Vietnamese, Indonesian, and English) have been developed. These materials are based on the platform architecture of the 13-unit virtual reality education and training system for chemical hazards. Migrant workers can use these materials to experience possible accident risks and actual workplace operations in simulated situations. Feedback from about 150 foreign migrant workers (Vietnamese, Indonesia and Philippine) from 26 institutions was collected from the user experience of multi-language virtual reality education and training materials, and more than 90% of the participants were satisfied with the authenticity of the content of the materials, the improvement of chemical safety management and hazard awareness, and the arouse of learning interest. It is evident that this multilingual virtual reality education and training materials can provide migrant workers with smooth and highly immersive learning experience and its learning effectiveness. In addition, these education and training materials will help the platform promote and implement chemical-related safety and health education and training and improve the safety and health management capabilities of institutions for hazardous chemicals. |
