Duplex stainless steels (e.g. 2205DSS) are being considered as potential interconnect materials for solid oxide fuel cells. The effect of La0.6Sr0.4Co0.2Fe0.8O3 (LSCF) coating on the electric properties and oxidation resistance of a 2205DSS alloy was examined in air. The 2205DSS alloy was coated with an LSCF layer (2205LSCF) via a screen printing process and was then sintered at 1000 ℃. When the 2205LSCF sample was sintered in an N2 atmosphere, the LSCF coating layer exhibited phase stability, and only a thin Cr-Mn-spinel scale formed at the LSCF layer/alloy interface. The LSCF layer prevented oxygen from reacting with the alloy, and as a result the oxidation rate of 2205LSCF was lower than that of 2205DSS at 800 ℃ in air. |
