Epidemic prevention and control is a profound test of the government's capacity of the social governance. During this period, mainstream media produced and broadcasted epidemic prevention texts to deliver important information on epidemic prevention to the audience, and played a role in further realizing social awareness of epidemic prevention.This study focuses on epidemic prevention videos released by mainstream media in China, and attempts to explore how mainstream media constructs social epidemic prevention identity which on the theoretical perspective of rhetorical criticism. From this perspective, epidemic prevention text actually is a kind of rhetorical practice with a specific rhetorical motive, it contains a meaning structure which references to the social context. This study uses the dramatism theory to reveal the relationship of the pentadic network in the text, and meanwhile demonstrates the rhetorical devices and motive of the discourse to find out the process of the prevention identify construction . The study findings, there is a“scene-oriented”factor dominates the network of pentadic, and it reflects the rhetor’s emphasis on material conditions and objective laws, which is the device of the discourse.Besides, the rhetor constructing a community of the shared benefits between ''individual-collectivity'', which decomposing the boundary between them and so as to promote the identification of social epidemic prevention. Finally, the constructing meaning of the text and daily prevention practices reconstructed a cognitive schema which integrating cognition, behaviour and experience of health prevention. |
