Literary picture books have the dual attributes of literature and art. The fields of literature, education, and visual arts have always attached importance to the narrative expression of illustrations in interpreting text and the relationship between pictures and texts. This study integrates research in visual arts and literature, and adopts a cross-disciplinary integration of art, design, and literary theories. From the perspective of the intertextuality of ''painting'' and ''literature,'' it discusses how words are transformed into concrete images, thereby creating a new artistic atmosphere. The topic focuses on the two picture books ''Nostalgia'' and ''Four Rhymes of Nostalgia'' with similar themes but different painting styles in ''Yu Kwang-Chung Poetry and Painting Collection'', and conducts a qualitative description of the structure. The theory is based on iconography, design codes and text analysis, to establish a cross-field research structure. There are four research steps: (1) creative strategy corresponding to writing form, (2) technique and natural theme description corresponding to text interpretation, (3) meaning and symbolic theme analysis corresponding to artistic conception analysis, (4) explanation of creative concept corresponding to text comment. Finally, this study compares the creative concepts of the two picture books, and summarizes the intertextual relationship between poetry and painting in terms of the ''reading dependence'' and ''creative extension'' of images in terms of the text, and proposes suggestions for literary picture book research and illustration creation applications. |
