Wearable anime merchandise targeted at adult consumers requires greater emphasis on social suitability in design and planning than collectible character models. Research indicates that adult consumers show a higher preference for“acquired taste”merchandise which tends to downplay overt anime elements to integrate seamlessly into daily life. Studies have noted that perceptions of this“acquired taste”vary with age, while preferences differ by gender. Given the Taiwanese industry’s current focus on children-oriented products, it is recommended to invest more resources into developing“acquired taste”merchandise. This study establishes a design model for such merchandise, encompassing principles such as“sophisticated quality”,“subtle refinement”,“timeless classic”, and“fashionable artistry”, while providing a“method bank”of various design techniques for professional reference. This model aims to provides a practical framework for scholars and designers to expand and refine, meeting the diverse needs of adult consumers for more comprehensively. |
