This research focuses on designing a specialized training textbook for Chinese-speaking tour guides in Thailand, emphasizing the history, cultural background, technical features, and rituals of Thai massage. With the rise in Chinese tourists, the ability of tour guides to effectively convey cultural knowledge is crucial. Existing textbooks do not fully meet these needs, particularly in explaining the cultural depth of Thai massage. This study uses content analysis and questionnaire surveys to evaluate current textbooks and refine a new one based on field research feedback. The research is divided into three phases: In the first phase, the researcher analyzed two existing tour guide textbooks to evaluate their strengths and weaknesses in terms of relevance, practicality, scientific, interest, and systematic principles. In the second phase, the researcher leveraged their accumulated experience as a tour guide to personally lead groups and conduct practical tests. Feedback from tourists was collected through questionnaires, providing critical insights for improving the textbook. In the third phase, the researcher incorporated both the tourist feedback and expert evaluations to carry out final revisions and enhancements, resulting in a textbook that balances cultural depth with practical application. The primary goal is to create a Chinese-language guidebook centered on Thai massage, which has been well-received for its professionalism and practicality. This study aims to address gaps in training materials for Chinese-speaking guides and provide guidance for future textbook development, ultimately enhancing the international competitiveness of Thailand's cultural tourism industry. |
