In 2023, the executive branch of the government of the Republic of China, the Executive Yuan, actively promoted education on the consumption of fish, emphasizing its importance for the sustainable development and the preservation of local culture, while advocating for its integration into curricula to build awareness of environmental and marine issues. However, there is limited research analyzing curriculum planning, lesson design, sustainable development, and learning assessment in this context. Therefore, this study aims to explore the impact of education on the consumption of fish on students' attitudes and awareness regarding marine resource conservation and environmental sustainability, as well as the effectiveness of this teaching approach. The researcher employed an action research approach, involving 25 third-grade students in the process of a two-phase (nine week) instructional cycle using a self-developed curriculum for education on the consumption of fish. Based on the analyses, three conclusions are drawn: (1) After participating in the curriculum, students show positive growth in their attitudes toward marine resource conservation and environmental sustainability, with positive impacts on emotional and behavioral aspects; (2) Hands-on activities contribute to enhancing students' cognitive, emotional, and behavioral development; (3) The curriculum design effectively increases students’awareness of environmental conservation. |
