The ubiquity of the internet in daily life brings both convenience and significant risks, with cyber gender-based violence emerging as a particularly alarming threat. In campus environments, relationship disputes frequently escalate into various gender equity incidents, manifested through online harassment or the non-consensual sharing of intimate images. Nevertheless, the issue of cyber gender-sexual intimate relationship are significant absences in research in Taiwan. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to explore the relationship among cyber gender-sexual intimate relationship, gender consciousness, and related coping strategy in college students in Taiwan. In this study, we employed three instruments included the Inventory of cyber gender-sexual intimate relationship violence, the Inventory of gender consciousness, and the Inventory of coping strategy of cyber gender-sexual intimate relationship violence. In addition, 229 participants were collected to conduct descriptive analysis, one-way MANOVA, Pearson correlation analysis, and regression analysis. The results indicate that 58% college students have had experience of cyber gender-sexual intimate relationship violence, especially on monitoring and controlling the partner’s online activity. The common coping strategies on cyber gender-sexual intimate relationship violence include self-harm, negative emotion regulation, and direct attack. The emotion regulation conduces to improve coping strategy on cyber gender -sexual intimate relationship violence. Furthermore, gender, the experience of being in love, and the suffering on cyber gender-sexual intimate relationship violence can significantly predict the coping strategy of direct attack and self-harm. Finally, suggestions were also discussed. |
