The Development of the Czechoslovak State and Nation

我們先回顧捷克斯洛伐克的早期歷史，也就是波希米亞、摩拉維亞、西里西亞、斯洛伐克、及魯塞尼亞的結合，特別是波希米亞王國在中世紀的奠基。接著考察奧地利哈布斯堡的統治，再來檢視捷克斯洛伐克民族主義在19世紀中葉的興起，尤其是在奧匈帝國的二元君主國安排下如何爭取獨立。最後觀察在奧匈帝國解體後，捷克斯洛伐克第一、第二、及第三共和國的遞嬗。

We start with a review of Czechoslovakia's early history, that is the union of Bohemia, Moravia, Silesia, Slovakia, and Ruthenia, particularly the foundation-laying of the Kingdom of Bohemia in the Middle Ages. We then look into the rule of the Austrian Habsburgs, and the rise of Czechoslovak nationalism in the mid-19^(th) century, with a special focus on how it obtained its independence under the arrangement of dual monarchy of Austria-Hungary. Finally, we will observe the evolution from the First Czechoslovak Republic, through the Second Czechoslovak Republic, to the Third Czechoslovak Republic.
