To establish a more comprehensive framework that catalyzes therapeutic tasks and enhances both practical effectiveness and teaching application, this study integrates clinical and teaching experience, drawing upon filial play therapy models developed by scholars such as Bernard Guerney and Garry Landreth. A parent-child play therapy group program is proposed, centered on the RAPT framework—Relationship, Authenticity, Play, and Training—as its core catalytic mechanism. The program design includes components such as group facilitation structure, learning task setting, curriculum development, supervision feedback and learning enhancement, experiential sharing and consultation, and home assignments. A pilot study was conducted to explore and refine the model into a formal program. This study investigates the effects of the RAPT parent-child play therapy group model on parenting practices, children’s behavior and emotions, and the parent-child relationship. Additionally, the study analyzes participants’experiential feedback and the change process to provide evaluative insights and revisions. The methodology involved an eight-week RAPT parent-child play therapy group. For quantitative evaluation, participating parents completed pre- and post-group assessments using standardized scales. For qualitative evaluation, interviews were conducted after the group sessions and analyzed to explore the therapeutic effects of parent-child play. Results indicate that participation in the group therapy helped reduce parental stress, particularly by decreasing dysfunctional parent-child interactions. However, there was no significant change found in the overall parent-child relationship. The process and outcomes of implementing the RAPT home-based parent-child play therapy showed positive effects on parents, children, and their relationship, supporting the model’s efficacy and offering avenues for further refinement. The study concludes with a discussion of findings and provides recommendations for practice and instructions. |
