In recent years, with the rapid development of the internet and digital technologies, digital comics, as an emerging art form, have gained widespread attention and developed rapidly. Digital comics not only offer more diversified forms of expression but also provide more convenient and efficient methods of creation and dissemination. With the rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, its applications have become increasingly widespread across various fields, including digital comics. The impact of AI on digital comics has become one of the most discussed topics in both academic and industrial circles. Since 2022, Artificial Intelligence Generated Content (AIGC) technology has experienced a concentrated explosion and has begun to be widely adopted by the general public, which has led many industry professionals to refer to this period as the “AIGC Era.” Both professional and non-professional comic creators in China are actively exploring and researching how to utilize new technologies to assist in the creation of digital comics. AI-generated comics not only inherit the material aesthetics of traditional hand-drawn comics but also pursue a “natural” style, reflecting a focus on the material aesthetics of comics. The combination of technological breakthroughs and human-centered demands will jointly guide the future development of digital comics.
