The acute ischemic stroke is a common critical neurological disease in the emergency department and it requires medical therapy immediately. Medication for stroke patients in the emergency department includes alteplase, tirofiban, antihypertensive agents and so on. Patients taking dabigatran as an oral anticoagulant may need to be treated with its reversal agent, idarucizumab. A thorough understanding of the disease treatment and the medications, including drug identification, dosing, route of administration, and monitoring for side effects, will influence the therapeutic effectiveness for stroke patients. Once a medication error happens, it may lead to serious harm particularly. It may increase awareness of medication safety issues by implementing standardized protocols, employing information technology controls, and providing education clinically. |
