蘇軾洩題李廌考辨

On the Scandal of Su Shih’s Supervision of the Civil Examination

宋哲宗元祐元年三年（1088）正月，蘇軾知貢舉，門人李廌落第，章惇季子章援魁取，高中省元，日後乃衍生蘇軾洩題李廌遭章援、章持偷竊之說。此事不可信，前人多誤傳，時至今日，仍有大陸學者據此論述，以蘇軾知貢舉作為宋代科舉考試舞弊的代表事件，以訛傳訛，不合史實，事涉蘇軾人品、清譽，亟須辨明。

In the year of 1088, Su Shih supervised the national civil examination and his student Li Chih was not qualified. Chang Tuan’s third son, Chang Yuan, won the first place. It was said that Su Shih revealed the content of the test to his student and the content was stolen by Chang brothers. This event was a hearsay and not to be believed. However, scholars in mainland China still argue about it nowadays. The story is totally not fitting to the personality of Su Shih and should be clarified.
