The artistic motif of the Mongolian lark was most prevalent during Yuan Dynasty, it not only closely linked with the rise and fall of Mongol Yuan dynasty, among which, three different art forms, such as, poetry, music and painting are the most prominent. Numerous works have Mongolian lark as their theme, including poetry centered around the Mongolian lark, odes to the Mongolian lark, and the postscript of painting on the Mongolian lark, all have greatly enriched the meaning of the writing. Regardless of the large number, or the significance to the era, this aspect is unique and worth mentioned in the Yuan Dynasty literature. This dissertation focuses on how the mongolian lark was portrayed in the Yuan poetry and being comprehended. Further understanding is focused on how cultural images of Mongolian lark were being shaped, the differences and relevance in poems on the subject, musical poems, and poems on paintings during Yuan Dynasty. This project aim at being able to identify the profound features and significance of writing regarding the Mongolian lark. |
