This essay explores the works written by Jiang Yan who was famous for imitation during the South Dynasty, especially focused on the theory of 「exhaustion of talents」. It examined the various viewpoint and explanations that were offered by researchers, rethinking whether they are all perfect, valuable and suitable for Jiang Yan's situations, discussed whether they are still reasonable by checking up on the evidence that were presented on all the collections of Jiang Yan's poetry. It explored the official career of Jiang Yan and analyzed the character of Jiang Yan's creations and his criticism also. This essay tried to make a concrete and effective elucidation from every side to clear up the various misunderstanding about the theory of「exhaustion of talents」for Jiang Yan. It will be good for completely realizing this important author during the South Dynasty and give Jiang Yan a more reasonable position and elucidating the change of the position between Jiang Yan and Shen Joe during the literature field of that time. |
