In regard to the interpretation, performance and influence of the Shi Jing, the Mao Shi Chuan Jian, the Mao Shi Zheng Yi and the Shi Ji Chuan can be rated as the three milestones of the Shi Jing. When the Mao Shi Chuan Jian and the Mao Shi Zheng Yi were combined into a text, becoming the Mao Shi Zhu Shu, the text and the Shi Ji Chuan can be considered as the masterpieces of the Shi Jing Han study and the Shi Jing Song study respectively, also having paradigmatic values of the Shi Jing study of history. This paper uses opposite comprehensive perspectives to examine the compilation forms, poem topics, interpretations and annotation performances of the Mao Shi Zhu Shu and the Shi Ji Chuan. While comparing and evaluating the pros and cons of the two books, this paper proposes that the Mao Shi Zhu Shu and the Shi Ji Chuan belong to group and individual writings, thus presenting problems with the details and the simplification of the contents. This paper proposes that the Mao Shi Zhu Shu and the Shi Ji Chuan share characteristics and merits and that both also possess same methods of reasoning. Finally, this paper proposes that the Shi Ji Chuan is capable of being the masterpiece of the Shi Jing Song study, but does not poses the characteristics to replace the Mao Shi Zhu Shu because of restrictions existing when the text was written. |
