Chiao Hsun ( 1763-1820 ) was the Yang-chou School scholar of wide attainments during the period of Ch'ien-lung and Chia-ching emperors in the Ching dynasty. He had edited and composed many famous literary works and manuscripts about '''The Canon Confucius'', especially ''The Three Books of Tiao-ku-lou upon the Book of Changed and ^Commentaries on Menfucius''. Besides Chiao Hsun also had written a lot of works about ''Mao-Shih''. He had many excellent opinions about terms, articals and meanings upon ''Mao-Shih''. But the ancient and present scholars rarely concern and study about them. Nowadays, I investigate and gain lots of Chiao Hsun's editions and manuscripts: “Complementary Comments on Mao-Shih'', ''Explanations to Articals and Terms on Mao-Shih ''Explanations to Grasses, Wood, Birds, Beasts, Insects and Fish on Mao-Shih1'' and so on. I also get the basic research results, and can basically hold on Chiao Hsun's hermeneutic meanings. I rely on scholarly and documental data, and divide into three parts to explain: Chiao Hsun's learning progress on ''Mao-Shih, Chiao Hsun's manuscripts and literary works, and research results. I expect to identify Chiao Hsun 's classical approach and his recognization. Promotionally, I look forward to certify Chiao Hsun's scholarly evaluation and contribution on ^Mao-Shih'''' and the history of ''The Book of Odes n in the Ching dynasty . |
