衛莊姜論

On Wei Chuang-chiang

《左傳》載衛莊姜事，謂其「美而無子，衛人所為賦〈碩人〉也」，言下頗有惋惜之意；《詩序》亦謂莊姜「美而有賢德」，皆美之者。然亦有謂其「操行衰惰」、「有冶容之行，淫佚之心」，如《列女傳》。正反之說，各有所本。本文以為，衛莊姜賢德與否，可再討論；更重者，在於縱橫捭闔，影響衛國政局。本文擬從二方面討論，一為莊姜與衛莊公之夫妻關係；一為齊國之勢力於此中之影響云。

Tso-chuan records the life of Wei Chuang-chiang by saying that she is a beauty but with no son, so the people of Wei compose the poem “Shou-jen.”. The poem is intended to show their sympathy. The preface of Shih-ching says that Chunag-chiang is beautiful and virtuous, while at the same time, it also narrates that she is depraved and lecherous. All these records have their resource. This article will delve into the issue from two different respects: one is the relationship between Wei-chuang and her husband, the other is the influence of the state of Ch's power.
