The purpose of the present study is to test the hypothesis proposed by Ko for mental health, which states that condition of mental health of a person is significantly related in positive and negative way respectively to the good and bad habits he has. Subjects were given the Ko's mental health questionnaire (1985) and a thinking habits scale. Each questionnaire consists of positive and negative score. Results indicate the scores of good thinking habits have sigifnicant positive correlation with positive mental health score, but have negative correlation with negative mental health score. Reversely, the scores of bad thinking habits have. significant negative correlation with positive mental health, but have positive correlation with negative mental health. All results support Ko's hypothesis for mental health. In Discussion, it was proposed that the factor of social desirability is eliminated before computing the relation between mental health and good or bad habits. In the future, we can design a multi-dimensional habit questionnaire in benefit of raising the relationship of habits and mental health. |
