This paper designed an observation method to address the need of evaluating objectively the child coping behaviors in countering stressing situation. The ''Child Coping Behaviors Scale'' (CCBS) was developed based on the observation of the coping behaviors of 30 months old children in the context of a moderate-stress experimental situation from a social disadvantage sample. Each specific observable coping behavior was scaled for 5 grades. Results indicated that the reliability of CCBS was moderate to high. The construct validation was demonstrated by the factor analysis, and the convergent and discriminant validity. The criterion validity was proved by the predictive power. |
