The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship among job satisfaction, job performance and personality characteristics of nurses in a psychiatric hospital. One-hundred and seven nurses are tested with Job Descriptive Index and California Psychological Inventory by self evaluating. Meanwhile, these subjects are evaluated for job performance with Job Efficiency Scale by their attending nurses and by themselves. The results are as followings: 1) The most favorable items of job satisfaction are found to be the staff and supervisor, followed by salary and work itself. The most unfavorable item is promotion. 2) There is weak correlation found between job satisfaction and job performance. 3) Several items of persomality characterisitcs correlate well to the job satisfaction. 4) There are no statistical significance between the personality characteristic and the job performance evaluated by their attending nurses, but the personality characteristics correlate well to job performance if evaluated by the study subjects herself. 5) There is no consistence, nor correlation found between the job performance evaluated by study subjects herself or by their attending nurses. |
