Thirty-regarding two gay persons volunteered to participate in this intervention study. Data of their AIDS knowledge, health locus of control, perceived susceptibility, perceived seriousness, action cues, action barriers, and behavioral intention were first collected. The experiment group (n=20) then took part in an AIDS prevention education program consisting of two ninety-minute sessions. The effect of such an intervention was then examined, comparing the experiment and control (n=12) groups. Results indicated that the experiment group benefited from the intervention only in terms of their AIDS knowledge. Behavioral intention correlated negatively with perceived susceptibility and action barriers. All participants rated the intervention as positive. |
