During the long period of authoritarian rule in Taiwan (from August 15, 1945, to November 6, 1992), the Taiwan Garrison Command was one of the most important intelligence agencies. Since its dissolution on August 1, 1992, the whereabouts of its archives have been a ma er of concern for various sectors of society. Whether it is the inquiries of Legislative Yuan members, investigations by the Control Yuan, or the summary report for the mission of the Transitional Justice Commission, nding the whereabouts of the Taiwan Garrison Command’s archives have been listed as an important ma er. is study utilizes the archives preserved by the National Archives Administration and the annual yearbooks of the Military Control Area Command, which inherited the Taiwan Garrison Command's archives, to identify their main types of archives, thereby analyzing the missing types of archives and clarifying the situation regarding the destruction of archives a er the dissolution. Finally, based on the past archival management methods of the Taiwan Garrison Command, the study a empts to propose the possible whereabouts of its archives. |
