This is study conducts a case study on home movies as archives. It focuses on the history and context of privately owned American home movies, illuminating their preservation within cultural institutions. It selected three cases- the Northeast Historic Film, the Center for Home Movies, and the South Side Home Movie Project, to explore their preservation practices, analyzing the implicit meanings conveyed, as well as to summarize their archival approaches in terms of four dimensions: institutional attributes, media literacy, archival access, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Home movies are significant historical records and cultural heritage, rich in diverse values. _rough this case study, the paper seeks to expand the vision and practical strategies for home movie preservation among professionals in Taiwan’s film preservation field. |
