This study employs data analysis to explore the differences in physical collections among the libraries of the University Alliance of U3. It aims to identify unique and relatively distinctive collections that each institution. Through focus group discussions, insights and practices regarding the development of distinctive collections among the three universities are shared. These findings are intended to support libraries facing challenges such as limited budgets, staffing, and space, by promoting effective resource allocation through consortium-based collaboration. The result reveal that each institution already possesses distinctive collections, and their development is interrelated with the quantity of holdings. Furthermore, by acquiring collections that are particularly highlighted by each library, it is suggested that these can serve as themes for potentially developing distinctive collections. This approach is intended to foster complementarity among institutions and study the feasibility of developing cross-institutional collection strategies. |
