The purpose of this study is to understand the effectiveness of the implementation of the “TsingHua STEAM School” curriculum development model in a junior high school in Hsinchu County. The courses of “Tsing Hua STEAM School” are developed according to the DDMT teaching model, which includes four steps: discover, define, model & modelling, and transfer. The DDMT teaching model provides a scaffold for teachers to develop their competency-based and interdisciplinary STEM/STEAM teaching activities. The findings show that the effectiveness of DDMT teaching model is: (1) Students with different levels of learning interests show improvement in their learning motivation. Students with low-level learning interest have significant improvement on their learning motivation. (2) Students also show improvement on their competences on computational thinking, interdisciplinary integration and communication skills. |
