Cosmic Resonance: The Core Rationale of Mencius’ and Zhuangzi's Theory of Governing the Body and the Country

本文首先透過孟子的「三辨之學」和《莊子》的「莊惠三辯」，指出他們二位的身國共治目標，均不只是成就一社會價值、培養社會人或完成現世的倫理與政治秩序而已。他們實有更深的關懷。這深刻悠遠的關懷，使他們欲召喚出內在及更多心靈的冥契意識，並以冥契意識作為倫理價值、世界安頓之本源，進而藉此無為化成世界。同時，亦論證出當孟子與莊子談到這些超越層次，或說意識—生命—宇宙的多維多層時，更為究極的即聖即王之精神，以及其中如何可能的根本原理。是故，最後論述了氣感神應作為轉化的終極∕根本場域，意即為提出「心氣場域」乃孟、莊身國共治論的核心理據。

This article first points out that the goals of Mencius’ and Zhuangzi's co-governance of the body and the country are not just to achieve a temporal ethical and political order, but is based on a deeper concern. This concern makes them eager to call out the numinous consciousness in people’s hearts, viewing it as the root of ethical value and peaceful world, thus giving expression to the idea of transforming the world through non-interference. At the same time, the article argues how the discussion regarding this transcendental level, including the multidimensional relation between consciousness, destiny and universe, in fact concentrates on the idea of simultaneous sagaciousness and kingliness, and the rationale behind its basic principle. Finally, it is demonstrated that “cosmic resonance” is the ultimate environment for the transformation, meaning that the “ether of the mind” xin qi is the core rationale for Mencius’ and Zhuangzi’s concept of co-governance of the body and the country.
