Due to data limited, discourses on Chinese education in Southeast Asia are biases and controversies. After the World War II, Southeast Asia Chinese society underwent a drastic transformation and cross-strait political infighting made research more difficult. Jen Hong comprehensively expounded the historical depth and political struggles of Overseas Chinese education in Southeast Asia. By studying Overseas Chinese education system in various countries, in the book -Chinese Education in the Sociopolitical Climate of post-WWⅡSoutheast Asia, 1945-1975- he explored the changes and development since World War II. This book beyond the existing framework of ethnic education and national identity has its theoretical and practical value. |
