This research paper is aimed to observe the most backlashing affair, BREXIT, in recent European integration history through research tool of International Political Economy (IPE), the Neo-Gramscian approach. In the beginning, this paper would introduce the two mainstream research approaches, the Neo-Functionalism and Liberal Intergovernmentalism, and their shortcomings in terms of explanatory capacity. And rather, this paper would like to show the benefits of using the Gramscian concepts to understand the dynamic of European integration, which should be analyzed in the context of global political economy structure. This paper will argue that BREXIT could be analyzed through the coalition of different social forces and the transformation of the neo-liberalism economy order. |
