“Friendly Environment”and“Ecological Sequence”are two of the principles of the Green Blet Food Forest design. The Green Parkway Food Forest is based on public space, and the choice of sustainable materials and the active presence of many non-human species contribute to the public nature, which involves the multiple tensions of people, species and materials. In this regard, the author argues that the public nature of the Green Parkway should not only include human actions, but also the convergence of materials and species, and thus the influence of“nature”in the space. This paper attempts to extract an appropriate discourse by invoking the theory of the assembled city and the urban atmosphere to explore how non-humans influence the construction and connotation of publicness in the greenway environment. This paper adopts qualitative research with participant observation and semi-structured interviews for data collection and fieldwork. The paper finds that the characteristics of the Greenway space, the maintenance and management of the“friendly environment”and“ecological sequence”of the food forest, and the influence of the existing characteristics of materials and species in the process of farming are the foundation for the subsequent public interaction. The use of sustainable but perishable and fragile materials in the infrastructure of the Greenway has its drawbacks but also fosters dialogue among the participants. In the view of assembled urbanism, heterogeneous elements are dynamic and their combination forms a dynamic but stable process. Although people are still the core of the public atmosphere, the symbiosis and integration of many heterogeneous elements are inseparable. |
