This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, as well as the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations. The United Nations has become the most universal, representative, and authoritative intergovernmental international organization, with the justice, progressiveness, and people-centered nature of multilateralism continuously strengthening. As a founding member of the United Nations and a permanent member of the Security Council, China has always been a steadfast builder of world peace, an active contributor to global development, and a strong defender of the international order. Since the restoration of its lawful seat in the United Nations in 1971, China has made a series of great contributions to the development of international law in both theory and practice, imprinting the Chinese mark on the United Nations. Under the new circumstances, global governance is facing the unprecedented opportunities and challenges. China will insist on its independent foreign policy of peace, continue to firmly safeguard the international system with the United Nations at its core and the international order based on international law, actively promote the democratization and the rule of law in the international relations, provide new impetus and make contributions to the reform of the United Nations and the development of international law. |
