Foreign-related legal talents consist of the foundation of China’s foreign-related rule of law. Reflecting on the journey of cultivating foreign-related legal talent since the reform and opening-up, examining the practices of training foreign-related legal talents from both the“supply side”and“demand side”, as well as observing the participation of Chinese legal professionals in international organizations, can help reveal the current shortcomings in China’s foreign-related legal talent training. The training of foreign-related legal talents urgently needs to clarify a direction focused on comprehensive competency development, promote the construction of a“law+other disciplines”academic system, push for standardized and regulated operations, and rely on the dynamic balance of supply and demand. This highlights the real need for optimizing the current system. China should build a competency framework for foreign-related legal talent centered on intercultural communication skills; foster interdisciplinary integration between law and other fields to construct an academic system for foreign-related legal talents; build a national standard system for foreign-related legal talents; and expand market demand to create a system aligning the supply and demand of foreign-related legal talents. These steps provide effective pathways for optimizing the training system of foreign-related legal talents. |
