The aim of this course is to cultivate the core competencies of humanistic care, enhance technological literacy, and raise awareness of long-term care issues among students of the associate degree in nursing. Students engaged in activities such as community visits, exploration of local history and culture, and listening to community needs for long-term care deepen their understanding of and commitment to community healthcare. Through participating in the revitalization of an abandoned old hospital, preparing a service-learning project for a long-term care center, conducting a thematic project, and joining a national competition, students could apply their nursing professional knowledge and boost their confidence. Due to the third-level alert of the COVID-19 pandemic during the semester under study, instruction was conducted synchronously using online meeting software alongside physical classroom settings, during which students received professional guidance in developing AI applications and designing board games for the elderly based on industry expertise. The assessment methods included formative assessments such as course satisfaction survey, project reports, service-learning records, and learning reflection journals, and students were encouraged to participate in national competitions to stimulate their learning motivation and practical abilities. In terms of summative assessment results, students developed 48 AI apps for elderly life applications, designed 4 board games for seniors, and wrote 4 proposals for setting up long-term care institutions. They also provided 172 person-times of field service for the old hospital, and the teaching satisfaction score reached 4.81 (out of 5). The student team also won the second place in the national competition. This course not only facilitated the growth of nursing professional skills but also enhanced teamwork and communication skills, showcasing the innovation of integrating humanistic and technological literacy in nursing education as crucial and effective for nurturing future nursing professionals. |
