Ding Jiang was the wife of Duke Ding of Wei. She was active during the reigns of Duke Ding and Duke Xian of Wei. Her deeds were first recorded in the Chengxiang period of Zuo Zhuan. This article aims to analyze the characterization of Ding Jiang in Zuo Zhuan and explore her political tolerance and keen skills in governing the country and fighting wars. At the same time, it is also compared with the image of Ding Jiang in Lie Nu Zhuan. Although the two books have different styles and focuses, Zuo Zhuan is a chronicle, and the description of Ding Jiang is scattered in the book, and it is necessary to understand it thoroughly to get a glimpse of the whole picture; while Lie Nu Zhuan is a chronicle, and the biography is written according to the person, with history and comments. Zuo Zhuan focuses on describing Ding Jiang's political tolerance. Whether in governing the country or in fighting wars, Ding Jiang showed keen political skills and height. Lie Nu Zhuan uses Ding Jiang's tearful farewell to his wife to return home, which makes Ding Jiang's love come alive on paper. However, through text comparison and literature research, we can analyze the multiple presentations and connotations of the same character in the context of different classics. |
