The influence of religion on individuals may be interpreted from diverse perspectives. Based on previous studies, this work developed a conceptual framework to explore the causal links among spiritual experiences, destination attachment, and mindfulness within the context of religious tourism. In total, 345 valid responses were collected using a systematic sampling method. Analyses indicated that both religious and secular spiritual experiences had positive and significant effects on destination attachment, which in turn affected mindfulness. Religion-related spiritual experiences did not directly influence mindfulness, whereas secular spiritual experiences did. The findings demonstrated that destination attachment fully mediated the relationship between religion-related spiritual experiences and mindfulness while partially mediating the association between secular spiritual experiences and mindfulness. These findings broaden our understanding of attachment theory and provide valuable insights into religious destination management. |
