This paper explores the multifaceted relationship between South Korea and the Visegrád Group–including the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia–through historical, political, economic and cultural lenses. It explores the formation of the V4 alliance and its post-socialist transition, highlighting the establishment of diplomatic ties with South Korea after 1989. The text examines how the varying political landscape, and industrial development have shaped each country's engagement with South Korea, particularly in the automotive, electronics, and defense sectors. It also considers the rising role of Korean investments, the cultural outreach through the Hallyu wave, and the impact of global events such as the war in Ukraine. Finally, it assesses the major challenges facing V4-South Korea relations, including political fragmentation within the V4, EU regulatory constraints, rising Chinese competition, labor market issues, and cultural unfamiliarity, all of which influence the depth and direction of their cooperation. |
