Kechang Yiwenlu(科場異聞錄)is a collection of five books compiled by LüXiangxie and Yu Zengguang in the late Qing Dynasty. The five books are Kechang Yiwenlu of the Current Dynasty, Kechang Yiwenlu of the Previous Ming Dynasty, Kechang Yiwenlu of the Tang and Song Dynasties, Kechang Yiwenlu of the Provinces, and Kechang Yiwenlu of the Minor Examinations. The book is intended to "promote good and punish evil and warn the world". This paper summarizes and organizes the information related to the compilation and publication, content and sources of Kechang Yiwenlu. It argues that in addition to the value of preserving historical documents, the book also has the following values: (1) it provides information on the publication of books in the Qing Dynasty; (2) it includes biographical materials not found in official histories; and (3) it collects anecdotes and warnings from the perspective of common people. |
