Taiwan has the highest motorcycle ownership rate in the world, with its density ranking among the top globally. In Taiwan, motorcycles are not only a primary mode of transportation for commuting and schooling but also the most convenient and accessible travel tool among various means of transportation. As a result, motorcycle tourism has become a popular trend in Taiwan. With the liberalization of heavy motorcycle imports and the implementation of policies allowing large motorcycles to travel on expressways, the use of motorcycles as a means of leisure travel has been increasing. This study conducted a survey targeting motorcycle tourists aged 18 and above who hold a valid driver's license. The research explores the relationships between travel motivation, leisure involvement, and well-being among motorcycle tourists. A total of 220 questionnaires were collected, with 215 valid responses. Statistical analysis was conducted using reliability analysis and regression analysis. The results revealed significant relationships among travel motivation, leisure involvement, and well-being. Specifically, the findings supported that travel motivation significantly influences leisure involvement, travel motivation significantly affects well-being, and leisure involvement significantly impacts well-being. Additionally, leisure involvement was found to have a partial mediating effect on the relationship between travel motivation and well-being. These findings indicate that travel motivation not only directly enhances well-being but also further strengthens it through increased leisure involvement. Based on these results, the study suggests that government authorities actively maintain natural landscapes and ensure smooth road conditions, improve internet coverage, and establish rest stations to enhance the quality of travel experiences. A well-developed and safe infrastructure, along with a convenient and traveler-friendly environment, can not only increase the level of leisure involvement among motorcycle tourists but also enhance their sense of fulfillment and well-being after their journey. This, in turn, encourages more participation in motorcycle tourism activities and contributes to local economic development. |
