In recent years, China's expansion of hegemony in the Indo-Pacific region has posed significant geopolitical and security challenges and threats. Given the shared values and interests between Taiwan and Japan, bilateral cooperation between the two countries has been deepened under the leadership of the United States within a ''community of values.'' This cooperation extends beyond the realm of security to encompass political, economic, technological, and cultural dimensions. In terms of security, Taiwan and Japan are enhancing intelligence sharing, security dialogues, and policy coordination to jointly maintain stability and peace in the Taiwan Strait and the Indo-Pacific region. Politically, through parliamentary diplomacy, policy dialogues, and international initiatives, Taiwan and Japan are working together to uphold values such as democracy, human rights, and the rule of law. In the economic and technological sectors, the two countries are enhancing regional economic competitiveness through supply chain cooperation, digital economic development, and green energy transitions. In terms of cultural exchange, the diversification of Taiwan-Japan cultural activities, alongside rapid developments in education and tourism, further deepens the shared cultural values of both nations. Consequently, under the catalyst of the new ''community of values,'' current Taiwan-Japan relations are advancing towards a new stage. This includes jointly maintaining regional stability and peace, strengthening the global democratic camp, promoting regional economic integration and prosperity, advancing technological innovation and industrial upgrading, and enhancing the development and integration of civil cultural exchanges. |
