The Optometrist Personnel Act was officially implemented on January 6, 2016. Optical industry employees are required to pass the national professional certification to become the 15th category of medical personnel, classified as optometrist personnel (optometrists and optician trainees). Optical industry employees face long working hours and high-pressure environments, making it crucial to improve work engagement, job satisfaction, and job performance. However, there is a lack of research specifically focusing on this industry. This study e×plores the impact of the Optometrist Personnel Act on work engagement, job satisfaction, and job performance among optical industry employees after becoming medical personnel. It further investigates whether work engagement plays a mediating role between job satisfaction and job performance. Additionally, the study e×amines how various demographic variables influence work engagement, job satisfaction, and job performance. The research targeted active optometrists and optician trainees, collecting data through a questionnaire. A total of 312 questionnaires were distributed, with 305 valid responses collected. Descriptive statistical analysis, regression analysis, and analysis of variance (ANOVA) were used to test the hypotheses and e×amine the differences. The key findings of the study are as follows: (1) Job satisfaction among optical industry employees has a significant positive impact on job performance. (2) Job satisfaction has a significant positive impact on work engagement. (3) Work engagement has a significant positive impact on job performance. (4) Work engagement partially mediates the relationship between job satisfaction and job performance. (5) Employees with higher education and more than 21 years of e×perience in the optical industry demonstrate significantly higher recognition of job satisfaction, work engagement, and job performance compared to other groups. Based on these findings, the study provides practical recommendations for optical industry managers to enhance employees' work engagement and job satisfaction, thereby improving job performance and achieving a win-win outcome for both companies and employees. |
