與「泰國流行樂」互動：臺語及華語流行歌的臺泰／亞際聯結敘事

Engaging with“Thai Popular Music”: Associative Narratives of Popular Music Between Taiwan, Thailand, and Asia

泰國流行音樂在臺灣並非廣為流通的類別，儘管如此，近三十年不乏鮮明的臺語或華語歌翻唱案例，只是相關評論多半未關照原曲的社會脈絡。近十年，臺語及華語流行歌出現泰國鄉村歌（lukthung）的翻唱與創新，催生本研究調查鑲嵌於泰國社會的流行音樂類型，並從泰國鄉村樂的產業田野資料、學術論述、與臺語、華語的鄉村樂翻唱挪用分析，創造多層次的聯結敍事（associative narratives），累積較為平等且互為主體的臺泰∕區域文化觀點。

This essay examines pivotal instances of Taiwanese musicians’engagement with Thai popular music beginning in the late 1980s. The essay analyzes the social and cultural inter-Asian contexts in which Thai pop songs were incorporated or recreated in Taiwan’s pop music. Examples include Thai pop music covered by anti-colonial artists in the New Taiyu Song Movement and Thai songs covered by Mandarin pop idol groups. Thai music and musicians also contributed to the creation of Taiyu electronic dance music. More recently, Thai lukthung pop started to make its way into Taiyu pop and rock, as demonstrated in the smash cover-hit of“Your Heart for My Number.”Additionally, Namewee, a polyglot musician from Malaysia, incorporated cha-cha and lukthung in the multilingual crowd-puller“Thai Cha-Cha.”With the multiple associative narratives of popular music between Taiwan, Thailand, and Asia, this paper critically reframes how popular music in Taiwan engages with Thai pop music.
