The objective of this study is to extend the concept of incense culture with Chinese literature text as the foundation, to spur students of applied science of cosmetics towards cross-disciplinary integration, e.g., combining a specific profession with Chinese literature. The aim is for students to make good use of digital tools such as Word Cloud, Moodle and Zuvio and promote the extent of self-initiated learning. Medicinal specialists in the industry are hired to expound on the variety of aroma-medicinal products and health nourishment concept. Psychologists would also be invited to give aromatherapy lectures where Tarot and Aroma Cards are used as a guide for spiritual exploration, to boost leisure attitude and sense of happiness and energize the classroom and build a multi-layered cross-disciplinary Chinese literature teaching model. The study findings show that such diverse cross- disciplinary integration allows for improved teaching models. With Chinese literature at the core, one’s understanding of incense culture will be enhanced. Notably rectified is the view that Song-dynasty poetry is a sensational subject. Such collaboration of various industry specialists is conducive to the absorption of the essence of the tradition and will stimulate the students’creative output. Psychologists promote a client’s peace of mind with aromatherapy while expanding one’s professional knowledge. The application of cross-disciplinary teaching models leads to increased levels of leisure motivation and sense of happiness on the part of students. |
