HCHS Library, surrounded by large trees, is a“forest library"with a story of collective accomplishment from its planning to construction. Renovated and rebuilt 45 years later, it preserves traditions while introducing new ideas. A senior high school library should not only be a repository of books and a self-study room but also a treasure trove of knowledge, a place for cultivating humanistic qualities, a starting point for artistic and cultural enlightenment, and social care. It can also be a place where readers' youthful memories are stored. To create different meanings for different readers, the library offers more than book recommendations and thematic exhibitions. We expand the scope of reading to include lectures, film screenings, and exhibitions, providing varied sensory experiences and reading activities. This creates a cross-disciplinary reading environment, enhancing the ability to understand and empathize with others. In addition to physical activities, we share stories and promote reading through our Facebook page and Instagram, connecting teachers, students, alumni, parents, and community members to foster a sense of unity. By rooting reading in everyone´s hearts, we cultivate a rich humanistic soil. |
