The aim of this study was to investigate the strategies for the prevention of enteroviruses at preschools during and before the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants were recruited through purpose sampling. Eleven interviewees participated in the study. Research data were collected through interviews and documents. The results indicated that strategies for preventing the spread of enteroviruses at preschools include incorporating health management, environmental disinfection, and hygiene promotion into the preschool educators’daily tasks. Increased enterovirus infection in children would require early childhood educators to spend more time on virus prevention and would thus create more mental pressure for them. Class suspension is an effective mean of enterovirus prevention, but it could be inconvenient to families. The result revealed that because of the spread of COVID-19 in Taiwan, the percentage of children infected by enteroviruses decreased considerably owing to more reliable prevention, such as increased mask usage and less interaction in public places. In kindergartens located in a small regional population, the probability of enterovirus occurrence is extremely low. |
